Are you new to the low carb diet? If so, then there are a number of foods you will need to avoid. To begin with, the low-carb dietary plan is typically ideal if you are looking for a way to lose that extra belly fat. However, the doctor can also recommend it to you in case you have any health complications.
Regardless of how you started your low-carb diet, you will be able to burn the excess fat in your body. Low carb food includes the following;
- Broccoli and cauliflower
- Eggs
- Fish
- Nut butter
- Lean meat (for instance chicken breast)
- Coconut oil among others.
Starting this type of life can be challenging since some of the high-carb foods have been in our diets since we were kids. That is why finding out which type of staple foods to avoid can be an uphill task. Additionally, some of the foods can be healthy, but they are not suitable as low-carb foods because they contain high levels of carbs. Here are some of the foods you should avoid;
Bread
In almost every home, the smell of bread in the morning is what wakes you up from the bed. Doesn’t matter where you come from, bread seems to be a culture in most regions. More to that, it comes in many forms, for instance, rolls, bread loaves among others.
Unfortunately, bread contains high levels of carbs because it’s made out of whole grains. Therefore, if you want to stick to your dietary plan, you will have to avoid eating bread. You should also note that you can make your own low-carb bread at home.
A few fruits
As mentioned earlier, there are foods we normally consider them as nutritious but might not fit in the low carb category. Some fruits are one of them. As much as fruits are healthy, you need to watch out on which type of fruit to eat. Some have high levels of carbohydrates which might affect your dietary plan.
Fruits to avoid include; Bananas, Mangoes, Raisins, Pears, Dates among others. All in all, there is a level of tolerance each person has. These fruits should be limited to your tolerance level.
Vegetables with high amounts of starch
Some of the vegetables contain high amounts of starch. As much as most diets make vegetables sound as ‘free foods’, you should be careful of what you consume. Some of the vegetables you should avoid include; Beets, Corns, Potatoes among others. It probably a good idea to stick with a vegetable that has low starch and high fiber content.
Cereal
Cereal is another favorite when it comes to breakfast. Despite this being true, cereals pack high amounts of carbohydrates. More importantly, whole-grain cereals have a higher level of carbs. Therefore, such foods should be avoided.
Other food types you should totally avoid include
- Sweetened Yoghurt
- Beer
- Legumes e.g. beans
- Sugar of any form for instance honey
- Milk
- Chips
